Previous Page Next Page‘A body was found early this morning,’ Elisabeth Moss and Kerry Washington are told in the teaser for Apple TV’s dark new thriller Imperfect Women, and that’s about enough to suck us all in.
The eight-episode series was announced today as part of the streaming service’s upcoming slate of original films and TV shows, and features an exciting cast with Moss, Washington and Kate Mara taking centre stage as the titular ‘imperfect women’ (who, let’s face it, are pretty perfect at least in real life).
Based on Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, the series puts the decades-long friendship of the three women under the microscope as their lives become shattered by an unspeakable crime. Billed as an unconventional thriller, Imperfect Women explores what happens when love and betrayal, guilt, retribution and compromises alter our lives irrevocably.
The investigation into the crime untangles the bond between the women who come to realise that their friendship may not be what it seems.
A short teaser released on Tuesday sees Nancy (Mara) proposing a toast to the ‘two women I love most in the world’ as she stands in a glitzy bar with Eleanor (Washington) and Mary (Moss). They’re all smiles and laughs, sweetness and light, until scenes of passionate (and likely secret) trysts, smashed photo frames, and Mara walloping another woman in front of stunned onlookers take the shine off the facade.
‘Who I feel most loved by, the true friends who see me so deeply and accept me so completely. You guys seriously saved my life,’ Nancy continues in her toast.

Cut to Eleanor and Mary sitting beside each other in an interrogation room while looking suspicious, and you have all the makings of a pulsating binge-worthy thriller that we’ll absolutely be dissecting each week with our imperfectly perfect friends.
Imperfect Women boasts a positively stacked cast, including Joel Kinnaman, Leslie Odom Jr, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Corey Stoll, Rome Flynn and Ana Ortiz.
Fans of Moss will be thrilled to see her back on screens so soon after her long-running dystopian series The Handmaid’s Tale came to an end in 2025, and it’s a role that was a long time in the making.
‘From the moment I received Araminta’s novel, I couldn’t put it down,’ Moss previously said. ‘It was such an electrifying read; I fell in love with it immediately. I’ve admired Kerry and her work as an actor and producer for many years and have been looking for something to work with her on and was so thrilled that she responded to the material when we sent it to her and Pilar at Simpson Street.’

She added: ‘They were the first and only people we thought of. We are so happy that Apple and 20th Television agreed to partner with us on this, as well. It’s all an absolute match made in heaven.’

Scandal star Washington said she was ‘thrilled’ to get the call from Moss having been an ‘immense fan of hers’ for years.
‘Elisabeth and Lindsey [McManus, executive producer] have impeccable taste, as evidenced by the way they have championed Araminta’s gripping novel, and I can’t think of a better person to bring this project to life on screen than the amazing Annie Weisman,’ the actress said. ‘Imperfect Women is exactly the type of exciting, complex, raw storytelling we strive to create at Simpson Street.’
