I’m A Celebrity… South Africa is back on our screens and already causing mayhem.

Last night’s episode saw Sinitta take aim at her fellow campmate Gemma Collins’ over her career.

This came after fans demanded that former boxer David Haye be the first to be eliminated over his attitude problems and treatment of his other campmates.

However, unlike the original series, the voting system for this all-star edition is notably different.

Each celebrity is not eliminated via a public vote. Instead, their fellow campmates vote them out until the live final.

When they reach the final, whoever is remaining will then compete for the title.

Removing the public vote entirely, viewers decide who stays and who leaves in this all-stars edition.

The aim behind the power shift is to create a more strategic and competitive environment in camp as the players have a direct role in who stays and leaves.

Additionally, celebrities can choose which of their fellow contestants compete in survival trials through in-camp discussions or votes.

Throughout the series, there will also be a number of opportunities for contestants to save themselves from elimination through gaining immunity.

However, differing to last year’s series in South Africa, this year’s final on April 24 will be broadcast live from the UK and, unlike the first edition, the public will choose the winner.

This series has also seen Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers host a pre-recorded podcast, I’m a Celebrity: Unpacked, to accompany the show.

An ITV spokesperson previously said about the series: ‘The all-star version of the iconic I’m A Celebrity… format will once again bring together some of the most memorable campmates from series gone by, as they return to test themselves in brand new trials and challenges in the South African wilderness.

‘The award-winning Ant & Dec are back as hosts, with the new series featuring a fresh group of returning campmates, spectacular locations within the South African landscape and some of the most epic and extreme trials in I’m A Celebrity… history.’

With this series being pre-recorded, there has been a few points of contention amongst fans, however.

The format of each episode now differs from the traditional series, meaning the decision on how they end is entirely in the hands of the producers.

Reacting to the first few episodes on social media, viewers shared their fury over how the ending appeared to finish mid-way through a trial or important conversation.
