49ers Land Trent Williams Successor in Latest CBS Sports Mock Draft

The San Francisco 49ers need an heir to Trent Williams at LT, and the 2026 NFL draft is the perfect place to find one.

The feeling in the San Francisco 49ers building is that the team will eventually settle its contract dispute with All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams, according to multiple reports.

But that doesn’t change the fact that Williams, a 12-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro, turns 38 in three months and likely doesn’t have that many years left in him, which is why many have urged the 49ers to find his replacement now instead of waiting.

And if San Francisco is going to do so, the 2026 NFL draft is a great place to do it. The draft class is loaded with offensive tackle talent, and as many as seven OTs could go in Round 1.

San Francisco 49ers OT Trent Williams...

Garrett Poddell of CBS Sports believes that one of those seven will end up landing with the 49ers, as he mocked Clemson tackle Blake Miller to the 49ers with the 27th overall pick in his latest mock draft.

“Blake Miller is one of the most experienced offensive linemen in the 2026 NFL Draft with 54 starts at Clemson,” Poddell wrote. “While he played right tackle for the Tigers, he could learn the finer points of left tackle from All-Pro Trent Williams, who will be 38-years-old on July 19, before eventually emerging as his successor in San Francisco.”

Miller did play the bulk of his snaps at right tackle for the Tigers, but several high-level college stars have made the transition from the right side to the left without issue.

The 6-foot-7, 315-pound Miller played 3,631 snaps at RT and 101 at LT during his college career. He allowed just two sacks, 14 pressures, and 10 hurries, last season, and he finished his four-year career with eight sacks surrendered plus 79 pressures, 61 hurries, and 10 QB hits allowed, per Pro Football Focus.
