Multiple horses are being assessed following Saturday afternoon’s Grand National

Three horses are reportedly undergoing veterinary assessment after failing to complete the Randox Grand National, while one jockey has been taken to hospital for further treatment.
The incidents occurred during the challenging four-and-a-quarter-mile race on Saturday afternoon, which also saw an earlier equine fatality on the day.
Willie Mullins’s Quai De Bourbon fell at the second fence, and Sara Bradstock’s Mr Vango came down at the sixth obstacle. Both horses were transported back to the stables in a horse ambulance for evaluation.
Top Of The Bill, trained by Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies and ridden by Toby McCain-Mitchell, fell at the final fence. Although he remained on the ground for a brief period, he was later seen walking back to the stables.
A statement from the track confirmed the assessments: "Top Of The Bill fell at the final fence and was assessed on course. He was walked back to the stables where he will remain under assessment.

“Mr Vango walked onto the horse ambulance following his fall at the sixth fence, having been assessed, and has returned to the stables for further assessment."
Separately, the Gordon Elliott-trained Stellar Story fell at the 19th fence, leading to his rider, Robbie Dunne, being taken to hospital.
Aintree’s statement added: "Jockey Robbie Dunne was assessed on course by the medical team. He is conscious and talking and is being taken to hospital for further assessment. All remaining horses and riders are accounted for."
Earlier in the day, Get On George was euthanised after sustaining an injury on the flat during the William Hill Handicap Hurdle.
Saturday’s Grand National was won by I Am Maximus, with the 2024 champion becoming the first horse to regain his crown since Red Rum in the 1970s.
