Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs are set for an NBA Finals matchup against the New York Knicks, beginning with Game 1 on Wednesday night.

Regardless of the result of this championship series, Wembanyama is already on a trajectory that could put him amongst some of the greatest basketball players of all time.

Before tipoff of Game 1 on Wednesday, former NBA player turned ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins outlined his lofty expectations for the 7-foot-4 Frenchman.

“In the next 5 years, Victor Wembanyama will have three championships. In the next 5 years, Wemby will have three to four Defensive Player of the Year [awards]. In the next 5 years, he will have three MVPs," Perkins said. "When it's all said and done, he's going to go down as the greatest Spur to ever play the game of basketball."

"When it's all said and done 30 years from now, the GOAT conversation, in no particular order, is going to go LeBron, Jordan, and Wembanyama," Perkins continued. "If this man doesn't get hurt for the next 10 years, he's going to be the best basketball player on both ends of the floor.”
