- Masters of the Universe fans might not have seen the last of Skeletor
- Its director says he already knows how he'd bring him back, too
- One of the sci-fi fantasy film's post-credits scenes teases how he could return
Masters of the Universe filmmaker Travis Knight has indicated we haven't seen or heard the last of Skeletor — and one of the movie's post-credits scenes all but confirms he'll return.
Ahead of the sci-fi fantasy film's release, I asked its director if He-Man's archenemy would return in the future. And while Knight didn't specify when or where we'd see Skeletor again, the movie's third and final post-credits sequence heavily implies he'll be back in a future project.
Full spoilers immediately follow for Masters of the Universe. If you haven't seen it yet: bookmark this page, read my Masters of the Universe review to see if it's worth a trip to the theater, go watch it, and then carry on reading this article.

Indeed, after their climactic battle comes to an end, all that's left of the flick's primary villain is the evil sorcerer's lifeless skull.
He-Man fans know better than to believe that Skeletor is no more, though. The Havoc Staff-wielding Lord of Destruction has come back time and again in other Masters of the Universe projects, including the 1985 animated series and Netflix's much-criticized TV reimagining of the Mattel-created franchise.

Masters of the Universe review: Amazon's reboot is the superb sci-fi fantasy film spectacle that He-Man deserves
An end-credits stinger on this 2026 new movie also proves that his time will come again. Indeed, the final after-credits sequence shows Evil-Lyn, aka Skeletor's second-in-command, sneak her way back into Castle Grayskull and find Skeletor's remains. After picking up his skull, she makes a quip about his current predicament. Then, as the screen cuts to black, we hear Skeletor's iconic cackle, thereby confirming he's not as dead as he appears.
So, it's nailed on that we'll see Skeletor in a sequel to the new Amazon movie, right? I put this question to Knight at the film's UK junket, to which he replied: "You haven't seen the last of Skeletor. That's all I'll say about that.

"The end of the movie even suggests where things might go, and there are certainly other stories to tell. But, if we never get a chance to make a sequel, I'm very happy with the self-contained story that we told."
Want to know what one of those "other stories" could be? See what Knight had to say about Masters of the Universe's other post-credits scene and how it teases the long-overdue live-action debut of a popular He-Man character.
