One of the most beloved television shows of the past decade is returning to streaming after being removed by Netflix.
Viewers were left heartbroken back in April when it was revealed that their favourite show would no longer be available on the platform.
First airing in 2015, the Dan and Eugene Levy-created sitcom Schitt’s Creek ran for six series before concluding its run in 2020.
For those unaware, the show followed the plight of rich video store magnate Johnny Rose (Eugene) and his family, suddenly left penniless after falling victim to fraud.
Relocating to the titular town, the family – including late actress Catherine O’Hara as soap actress Moira – must learn to start all over again.
With the show now streaming in full on BBC iPlayer, destitute viewers can reacquaint themselves with the Rose clan once more.

Announcing the sitcom’s arrival on its streaming service, the BBC’s X account wrote: ‘Dangersome news – Schitt’s Creek is coming to BBC iPlayer from 6 June.’
This was met with joy from social media users, including Charmian, who said that it was ‘time to give it a try since [the BBC is] making it easy.’
‘Be afraid, be very afraid,’ warned MarilynKennick. ‘You will be totally hooked on this family.’
Richsheff called it ‘one of the funniest recent TV shows,’ while Knocksill described the BBC’s announcement as ‘excellent’ news.
These voices echo the show’s fans on Rotten Tomatoes, contributing to an overwhelmingly fresh score of 93% on the review aggregator.
This includes The Guardian, which described it as ‘arguably the best show of the decade’ in their 2020 retrospective, while Vanity Fair posited that ‘yes, it really is that good.’

Tragically, six years after the show ended, O’Hara died at the age of 71.
Those paying tribute to the Hollywood legend included series co-creator Dan, who described their time together as a ‘gift.’
In the caption to a post on social media, he continued: ‘Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family.
‘It’s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her.
‘My heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke and every member of her big, beautiful family.’
Meanwhile, on-screen husband Eugene said: ‘Words seem inadequate to express the loss I feel today. I had the honour of knowing and working with the great Catherine O’Hara for over fifty years.
‘From our beginnings on the Second City stage, to SCTV, to the movies we did with Chris Guest, to our six glorious years on Schitt’s Creek, I cherished our working relationship, but most of all our friendship. And I will miss her.
‘My heart goes out to the entire O’Hara family.’
Other members of the cast, including Annie Murphy, Chris Elliot and Sarah Levy also paid tribute to the star’s indelible contribution, both to Schitt’s Creek and wider Hollywood history.

Speaking soon after the sixth series wrapped up filming, O’Hara described how the cast ‘wept’ during their final table read.
‘We shared grateful tears,’ she told The Independent.
She continued: ‘I miss how feminine and confident – in a delusional way – I felt as Moira. I miss having that kind of nerve and creativity with how I present myself.
‘I miss the opportunity to use arcane words in my conversations… Maybe I should just stay in character.’
Meanwhile, Annie, who plays Alexis Rose, admitted that she was so overwhelmed with emotion that she slipped out of character for the moment.
‘It was me saying goodbye to Eugene and Catherine and Johnny and Moira, and it was a really, really hard and wonderful day. It’s something that will flash before my eyes as I’m dying, I’m sure. It was a truly, truly perfect day,’ she said.

‘Schitt’s was so warm and sweet and cuddly,’ the 42-year-old told Metro of his next project.
‘My natural curiosity was to go somewhere else and keep some of the warmth of the family dynamic but kind of dabble into more dangerous territory.
‘For me, the big challenge was, how do we tell a story that’s thrilling but also never not funny? That became the big challenge for our writers’ room: tell a season of a story that’s a big thrill, a rollercoaster ride, but never compromises on the laughs.’
