Close popoverArtemis II astronaut captures Earth vanishing behind moon on iPhoneNasa astronaut Reid Wiseman has shared stunning “Earthset” footage during a lunar flyby, filmed on an iPhone.
During the Artemis II mission, which returned on 11 April, Wiseman captured Earth disappearing behind the Moon, and has since shared the footage on social media.
Explaining the video posted on Monday (20 April), the astronaut said: “Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset.”
He added: “I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window, but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.”
