Skrillex has been full of surprises lately, and now, the electronic music producer is back with a surprise new album, titled "SOMA." This album shows that he's still one of the best in the genre, too.

While many artists spend weeks or even months promoting an upcoming release, Skrillex dropped his new set on Friday, June 5, without too much warning. But, he did give fans a small heads up by sharing the album's title and track list earlier in the week on his official Instagram story.

The set features 13 new songs and sees Skrillex working with collaborators from around the world, including Anita B Queen, BEAM, Chris Lake, Feid, RHR, Naisha, Nitepunk, and more.

"The album expands on many of the creative partnerships that have emerged throughout Skrillex's recent releases, live performances, and DJ sets," a press release states of the album.

"SOMA" comes right after Skrillex debuted CONTRA, his new event platform in collaboration with Berlin Atonal, which took place May 30 and 31 at Kraftwerk Berlin. The album's release also comes alongside Skrillex's return to Primavera Sound Barcelona, where he rocked the Revolut stage on Friday. It's a busy weekend for Skrillex, because he also hosts the festival's CUPRA Pulse stage Saturday, June 6.

Skrillex Shows He's Still One of EDM's Biggest Innovators

Skrillex...

Skrillex is known for his genre-bending, and he certainly visits that sound on "SOMA." The release is passionate and energetic, bringing together a slew of different sounds and styles into the electronic landscape. Skrillex is obviously one of the originators in electronic music, and "SOMA" shows that he's not slowing down or taking the easy way out with his new music.
